Four years old

I was Four years old when I realized that I had my own magic powers. I didn’t know it then, but it was just the beginning of a lifetime of finding out these things about myself. It all began one day with me holding a squishy toy that had many vivid colors inside of it. My small hands could bend it, and move the color shapes inside it all around.  I smiled in amazement, as I sat alone in the thick grass in the backyard. Then, I held it up to the sun. The colors were brighter, and shiny rays of light came thru it, illuminating my face. Feeling warm and happy inside, I looked over to see that my house had disappeared, along with all of the people that were inside of it. Then I looked to the right, and the driveway was gone too. ‘Where did they go’, I wondered. As doubt started to set in, the house and driveway reappeared. Each time I looked at the squishy color toy, everything vanished except me, the toy, and the tall patch of grass I was sitting in. Each time I smiled, getting lost in the amazement of this beautiful object in my hand. Smiling, and making loud noises of excitement, I tried to tell someone, but no one was there.
I never got to tell anyone about that day. One of my sisters found the squishy toy a year later, but the house and driveway were still there when she held it. She was sad all the time, and couldn’t make it go away like I could.
This is when I learned that I could make bad things disappear, and see only the good things. I tried to explain it to my family when I was old enough to talk, but they still didn’t understand. They only saw the house, the driveway, and the destruction that we lived in. Then one day the toy was gone. It must have been thrown away by one of the big people. ‘Well, I don’t need it anymore’ I decided. If I close my eyes, and take a deep breath, it was all gone, anytime I wanted.
